Close on the heels of Indian cinema celebrating its centenary year, the industry has lost one of its doyens,
S S Rajendran (popularly known as SSR). The actor breathed his last at a hospital in Chennai, where he was admitted for health complications.
In a career spanning over six decades, he has over 100 films to his credit. SSR has the rare distinction of being the first actor to get elected as MLA (1962). He was known for his attractive personality and clear pronunciation of Tamil on screen and he had shared the screen with legends including MGR and Sivaji Ganesan.
