Mellisai Mannar Viswanathan is celebrating his birthday today (June 24). He shares his birthday with legendary lyricist Kannadasan, in whose association he gave us many ageless songs.
MSV’s recent work is Thillu Mullu, remake of a yesteryear hit of the same title. Besides scoring the music by joining hands with Yuvan Shankar Raja, he also danced for a number in the movie.
MSV has composed for about 600 films that included mostly Tamil films and others from Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu industries.
He reigned supreme in Tamil films from 1965 to 1978. He sang under his own composition over 500 songs and in addition sang 200 songs composed by other music directors.
Viswanathan was born on 24 June 1928 to Manayangath Subramanian and Narayanikutty (or Naanikutty) in Elappully village in Palakkad, Kerala, India.
