Prassanna on song literally

After music directors like Dheena and Vijay Anthony venturing to acting, playback singer Prassanna takes to donning the greasepaint. Prasanna is playing the lead not for a movie, but for a music video. Prasanna has more than 1000 film songs in various regional languages to his credit.

Prassanna hails from the musicians family, is the great grandson of Sangeethakalanidhi, late flautist Sanjeeva Rao and grandson of violinist late P S Ramachandra Rao. He is the disciple of Sangeethakalanidhi Neyveli R Santhanagopalan. He learnt Carnatic music from Subba Rao, S R V Sharma, K V Nataraja Bhagavathar and Abhang from Sanjay Nadkarni. He has been conferred the title DAASA SAHITYA BHUSHANA’ by Sri Pejawar Mutt Swamiji, Udupi.

Prassanna has given concerts at Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Apart from music concerts, he has given Lecture- Demonstrations in several countries abroad.

Prassanna has always been different and his recent devotional album Sri Purandara, featuring rare Purandaradasar Padagalu, was a huge hit.

‘My dream to sing an Abhang or a composition of Purandaradasa has finally come true. I have composed and sung eight of his rare compositions in Carnatic and Hindustani fusion, after thoroughly researching them with the help of music scholars,’ says Prassanna.

Some of his popular songs include Azhagaai Pookkudhe from Ninaithale Inikkum, Unnai Charanadainthen from Thavamaai Thavamirundhu, Molachu Moonu from Velayutham, Veyilodu from Veyil amonmg others.
