Producer-director Kalaipuli G Sekaran on Thursday asked Tamil film producers to make smart moves and safeguard their interests.
Speaking at the audio launch of Mudhal Thagaval Arikkai, a film directed by newcomer Rajaganesan, here, Sekaran said that veteran producer KRG, who passed away recently, suffered a lot during his last days.
‘We should learn a lesson from his life. He was the one who was a ladder for many popular stars and directors. But he failed to save money for his future. Hence he faced financial troubles before he breathed his last,’ Sekaran said.
He added that producers are the backbone for the industry. Veteran cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra was also present.
Mudhal Thagaval Arikkai, starring newcomers Rayan and Kalpana Jayam in lead roles, is produced by Mujeeb and A R Sooriyan for Velli Thirai Talkies. Besides producing the film, Mujeeb and Sooriyan had played crucial roles in the film.
Speaking about the movie, the director said, ‘Mostly newcomers have acted in this movie since we wanted to encourage fresh talents. Also, the suspense as to who will be the baddie will be the maintained well if debutants play lead roles.’
