‘Pasamalar’ Mohan passes away

20140828_141701 K Mohanakrishnan (Called as Pasamalar Mohan) passed away recently recently at his residence in Chennai. His father was the Magistrate and Manager of Prabhat Talkies T Kannabiran, Purasaiwalkam. He is the founder of the famous The Mohan Arts which is operating since 1951 (Cine Banner/Cutout company). It is one of the oldest and also the famous company in this field and its known for its tallest cut-outs. His 80 feet cutout for the movie ‘Vannangamudi’ at the year 1952 was a masterpiece in south India and won various appreciations during those time.

His cutouts of Queen Elizabeth during her period of visit to Chennai attracted the entire city and the queen herself thanked and appreciated him personally . His works for his idol Gandhi – Movie throughout India got the entire nations attention towards him. He got a new definition for the art and painting in India. He was one of the best friends of Sivaji Ganesan right from his early career , Their friendship was popular and well known to all cinema industry people. He was also close associated to many other film personalities. He was also an art director and won various awards state wise and nationally for his excellence, specifically Vikas Ratna presented by the Government of India for the field of art.

His sons Harinath Kumar and Narendran are still taking care of the company with the name Mohan Arts Digital which creates flex banners.
