Legend of music passes away

Veteran playback singer T M Soundararajan breathed his last in Chennai on Saturday. He was suffering from breathing trouble for some time.

A versatile singer, who left a mark with his dynamic voice, he virtually dominated the Tamil film music industry for several decades and was the voice for two great superstars of Tamil cinema in 1950s and 1970s – M G Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan.

The celebrated singer’s son lit the funeral pyre amid chanting of mantras during the last rites performed at a burial ground in Mylapore on Sunday, sources said.
