He has crossed 80 years. He may have won many laurels including the coveted ‘Dadasaheb Phalke’ award for his immense contribution to Indian cinema . But still he is young at heart and wants to do more films. That is veteran filmmaker K Balachander.
Taking part in the audio launch of Arohanam, directed by actress Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, in Chennai on Tuesday, Balachander said, ‘the movie has been done at shoestring budget without compromising on the quality. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan has done a wonderful job as director. Inspired by her, I want to do low-budget movies now’.
Releasing the first copy of the audio, set to tunes by K, he said, ‘Lakshmi has managed to extract the best from all his artistes. Viji Chandrasekhar, sister of veteran actress Saritha, who played the lead role reminds me of her sibling in her hey days. She has done a fantastic job’.
The audio was received by director Sethumadhavan. The movie features Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrasekhar, Sampathraj, Uma Padmanabhan among others in the lead roles. Produced by P V Anoop and to be released by JSK Film Corporation, Arohanam speaks about a sensitive issue, which Lakshmi did not want to reveal. She said the movie would sure set a trend in the industry.
Who’s who of Tamil cinema including filmmakers Pandiraj, Vasanth, producers UTV Dhananjayan, ‘Amma Creations’ T Siva, actor Srikanth, veteran actress Sachu, Vadivukkarasi and ARS among others took part in the celebrations. The trailer of the movie and a song was screened on the occasion.
