Kadha, Koffee & more

Veterans Nasser and Revathy, along with 23 new faces, are playing crucial roles in Konjam Koffee Konjam Kadhal (KKKK), a film directed by Venky, who runs a theatre group.

‘KKKK takes pride in introducing 23 new faces to the Tamil screen, including the lead pair and also a few technicians. I am happy to have Nasser and Revathy on board,’ says Venky.

‘The male lead is played by Hriday who had a lucky start to his career when he debuted as a child artiste in Mani Ratnams Bombay where he along with his twin brother played the sons of Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala.

The female lead is Aditi Chengappa, an actor and model from Delhi. The other introductions play various supporting roles in the film.’

This is Venkys debut feature film backed by his experience gleaned from 30 years in media, as an adfilm and documentary film maker and in television as head of a television channel.
Venky says that this movie has the story element of Bhimsingh, characterisation of Balachander and the narrative style of Mani Ratnam.

The most interesting part of the film are the cameo appearances of thespians Nasser and Revathy, Venky says and adds that they have been cast in roles they have not played hitherto and it is they who bring about a twist in the story.

This is a debut movie for the music director Phani Kalyan as well. ‘Kalyan has scored absolutely scintillating music, experimenting with various genres with great elan and competence,’ says Venky.

‘Prem of Maanaada Mayilaada fame, has debuted as a choreographer in this movie. He has choreographed some mind blowing dance numbers including one where popular dancer Sandy, again of Maanaada Mayilaada fame has virtually scorched the dance floor with a racy number where he appears as an illusion of Michael Jackson,’ says the director.

Venky claims that the song can be considered a tribute MJ, who ‘was passionate about changing the world and healing the pain of the people’. The lyrics have been penned by Arivumathi, Palani Bharathi and Chitraa Venky, who also debuts as a lyric writer and dialogue writer in this film.
