Deepavali: The race begins

It is a three-cornered contest from tomorrow at the box office as Vijay’s Thuppaki, Thangar bachan’s Ammavin Kaipesi and STR’s Poda Podi is all certain for release.

After working with the likes of Ajith and Surya, A R Murugadoss is joining hands with Vijay for Thuppakki. Kajal Agarwal plays Vijay’s ladylove in the film that has music by Harris Jeyaraj. Cinematography is by national award- winning Santosh Sivan. Vijay plays an army officer under cover.

Poda Podi, directed by debutant Vignesh Shiva, the film marks the acting debut of veteran Sarathkumar’s elder daughter Varalakshmi. Music for this romantic entertainer is by Dharan. The film, it is said, captures the various phases of life and will explain to the audience in an interesting way how beautiful and how precious life is. Thangar’s Ammavin Kaipesi, starring Shanthanoo Bhagyaraj and Iniya in the lead, revolves around a mother and her grown-up children. The treatment being given to her by her sons is told in an emotional way, it is said. Besides Shanthanoo and Iniya, Thangar himself is playing a crucial role.
