CIFF gets underway TN govt sanctions Rs 50 lakh

12th Chennai International Film Festival Inauguration Stills (14) The annual Chennai International Film Festival kicked off in the city on Thursday. It was inaugurated by State Information Minister Rajendra Balaji at Woodlands theatre.

Being organized by Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF) in association with the film fraternity, the 12th edition of the event that would be on till 25 December will see over 170 films from across the globe being screened.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajendra Balaji, said, The State government has granted Rs 50 lakh for the event.

Heaping laurels on the ICAF, the Minister expressed his sincere wishes for the events success.President of Nadigar Sangam Sarath Kumar who was also present on the occasion, said, I take this opportunity to thank former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, whose consistent support has helped make this event bigger.

Veteran filmmaker Mahendran, who spoke on the occasion, said, such film fests should taken to nook and corner of the State. It should not be confined to the State capital.
