Book on Superstar??

Baasha, Superstar Rajinikanth’s 1995 action thriller, created an all time record at the box-office. Directed by Suresh Krishna, there were rumours that the makers had plans to produce a sequel to it with Rajini playing the lead protagonist, but this later fizzled out. Now, what we hear is that a book on the making of Rajini’s three sleeper hits Baasha, Annamalai and Veera, is being written by Suresh Krishna who directed all three films. (It will be called My Days with Baasha.)Speaking to a close daily about how the idea originated, Suresh Krishna said, The three Rajini films were released more than 15 years ago.But they still remain evergreen in the minds of audiences.

Year after year, on Rajini sir’s birthday, invariably, the media asks me to talk about Baasha, Annamalai and Veera, and share with them my experiences with the Superstar. And every time I speak about it, the audiences seemed to enjoy it. So, I felt that there’s some magic which makes these films unforgettable. Thats when I thought why not write a book on the making of these films. The book is being translated into Tamil, Baashavum Naanum, and in Telugu, Baasha Tho Nenu. Suresh Krishna recalled interesting incidents while shooting the three films, how the popular punch lines, including naan oru thadava sonna nooru thadava sonna maathiri came up, the music sessions, the stunt blocks, the other side of Rajinikanth – his off-camera persona, during make-up sessions, his reactions during previews, the humanity of the star – and these will now be documented in a behind-the-scenes look at the three films in a 200-page edition. Plans are on to release it by November around Diwali. Well movies apart, fans gear up for this big booook on Diwali!!!
