ARR back to Academy Awards list

A R Rahman’s track Elay Keechan for Mani Ratnam’s Kadal is creating magic among the Tamil fans across the worl his last Hollywood outing, ‘People like us’ has been shortlisted for the Academy Awards for its original scores. Can the two times Oscar award winner may give Kollywood yet another reason to smile. The soundtrack composed by Rahman has made it to the final list of the 85th Academy Awards. After he won the two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009, he was again shortlisted for his work in ‘Couples Retreat’ followed by two nominations in the year 2011 for Danny Boyle’s ‘ 127 Hours’. He is now back in this year’s Oscars shortlist for Alex Kurtzman’s ‘People Like Us’.

Surprisingly, another Indian, a composer from Mollywood features in the list too. Sreevalsan J Menon, a well-known musician from Kerala, has made it to the prestigious list for his work in Roopesh Paul’s ‘Saint Dracula’. Other than these two, there are 104 other musicians competing for the final nominations. The final nominations will be announced on February 10th and the award ceremony will happen on 24th of the same month. Will ARR get another Oscar at the 85thAcademy Awards?
