Lakshman Sruthi will be organising musical festival Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru from 18 to 25 December. Speaking at a press meet here yesterday director of Lakshman Sruthi V Lakshmanan said the event would unwind at 3pm on 18 December at Kamarajar Arangam with Thiruvizha Jaishankar’s Nadaswaram and followed by rendition of Pancharatna kritis.
This event will be led by musician Padmabhushan P S Narayanaswamy. Elaborate arrangements have been made for participation of more than 500 artistes, he said. He further informed that former president of India A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the festival by lighting traditional lamp by 6 pm 18 December.
Udayalur Kalyanaraman, Shobhana Ramesh, Rajesh Vaidya and Priya Sisters are among the artistes who would be performing during the festival, he said. Nadaswaram exponent Thiruvizha Jayshankar will receive Isai Azhwar title in recognition for his lifetime contribution to the field of classical music. He will receive the title from the former president. A food festival will also held during the musical extravaganza with an aim to provide quality food to the rasikas attending the music concerts.
